Several months ago as the ​Cowgirl Artists of America​ and the​ A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art​ were preparing for the Women's Work exhibition, they reached out to the artists requesting that if we know any magazine editors, to please let them know about the upcoming show.

I had met Kelly Kane, the editor of ​American Watercolor Weekly​ and one of the editors of ​Plein Air Magazine​, on a few occasions. I decided to take a chance and email Kelly about the exhibit and how a few of the women artists would be working en plein air on the ranches they partnered with. She was delighted by the story idea and sent out an email to several of the interested artists requesting information about their experience.

 

Last week I finally received my copy of the August/September edition of Plein Air Magazine (it was a little beat up in the mail). And to my surprise, I received two full spreads at the beginning of the article! I had no idea that my work would be featured so prominently as there were no doubt many incredible works of art to choose from.

It has been a month of gratitude as I feel that years of hard work is paying off. I feel just thrilled to be a part of this groundbreaking event and to be able to portray such amazing ranching women and to be able to exhibit next to incredible women artists. I know that even though the hard work is paying off, there is much more to do and I am looking forward to getting back to my studio next week.
